Hi! I’m new to green smoothies. Can someone help me understand the differences between “blending” versus “juicing”? My mom has been making me green juices in her omega juicer. Should i switch to blended smoothies using one of these high power blenders like a Vita-Mix? Also, is there a relatively inexpensive version of a VitaMix available for those of us on a budget?

Thanx!

Hi! I just became interested in raw food and juicing. My mom introduced me to Victoria Boutenko’s work, and i’m very interested in blended green smoothies for health now! I have 3 girls, and in my mid-40s, and would love to serve green smoothies to my whole family if possible.

Basically blending is better because it has more fiber. Please read this article by Voctoria which addressed the Blending V’s Juicing topic http://greensmoothiesblog.com/blending-vs-juicing/
You don’t have to have a high powered blender to make green smoothies. Just do the best you can. This topic is also addressed on the blog in the Green Smoothie Questions category.

I usually add about 1 -2 cups of water. It depends on what sort of texture you desire.

I tried carrot and apple but there are too much fibre that makes the smoothie not too nice to drink. Mango, bananas, pineapple does a better job! I just tried making it with coconut water and flesh and the consistency of the smoothie is great! Try it.

I have been making green smoothies for about 10 months and love them. I was wondering if I can use Rue, Lavendar, Lemon Balm and Sage in my green smoothies as the greens alone, several handfuls. Or do I only add them as a flavor, a couple of leaves? I don’t know much about Rue so not really sure what to do with it. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks

    Hi,
I am looking for the name of the “traveling” blender that Victoria used in her travels.. I will be traveling and want to purchase one for the road.
    thank you much..

I think it gets bitter when it goes to seed. It has been so hot here and many of my greens are “bolting” too.

I was responding to another post about spinach going to seed.
